Lt Governor Tina Smith Appears on Theater of Public Policy
Provided by Theater of Public Policy
Minnesota’s second-in-command is the extra special guest for the season kick-off of Theater of Public Policy (T2P2). Join T2P2 and Lt. Governor Tina Smith as they ask her hard hitting questions like; ‘What should we do with Minnesota’s budget surplus?’ ‘What’s her working relationship with Governor Dayton like?’ And, wait… ‘what exactly does a Lt. Governor do anyway?’
Minnesota’s only civics-inspired improv comedy show is back. The spring season of The Theater of Public Policy starts April 4.
Highlights of the show
- T2P2 believes this is the first time any Lt. Governor anywhere has appeared on an improv show.
- They’re partnering with Finnegans again. If you bring a canned food item to the show, you’ll get $2 off a Finnegans beer, and help feed the hungry.
- They’ll also have artist Taylor Baldry in the house, live-sketching everything happening on stage. Art inspired by art inspired by policy.
What is the show?
The interview based show is a medium for exploring issues and bringing them to life using theater. All of the ideas and challenges brought up in this conversation serve as the inspiration for the improvised scenes to follow. The improvisers tasks are not to make light of the issues or mock the players involved. Instead, scenes make the previous conversation come to life with living, breathing characters in the situations described. It’s a show unlike any other.
